THE CHALLENGE
The iPhone 15 series Sheath will be the first iPhone case we've introduced that contains both a premium microfiber lining and an exceptionally strong MagSafe magnet. The challenge in implementing microfiber the right way was to first source a premium material that was soft, durable, and lint-free, and then apply the microfiber in a way that wouldn't weaken the case's structure or reveal the unsightly contours of the MagSafe magnet underneath. As you'll see below, the solution wasn't simple, but it's this meticulous attention to detail and constant commitment to craftsmanship that sets Caudabe cases apart.
THE SOLUTION
MICROFIBER
Microfiber as a concept may sound simple, but reality is anything but. Our design team sampled over 50 different grades of microfiber before identifying the perfect blend that combined all the attributes we wanted (soft, durable, lint-free, etc) and was also compatible with the industrial processes we use to apply our beautiful inner case design to the microfiber. That part was (relatively) easy.
The hard part was incorporating the microfiber and still providing enough rigidity on the inside of the case to house the MagSafe magnet, all while ensuring that aesthetically the magnet was invisible. Ultimately, we designed a structure within Sheath that required a multi-step process to engrave multiple grooves at tolerances of a fraction of a millimeter. A razor thin polymer film was then applied on top. The resulting structure smoothed the surface of the magnet and ensured it wasn’t visible through the microfiber lining, while also reinforcing the structure of the case.
All this to affirm that when we applied our microfiber to the inside of Sheath, it would look, well, perfect. Over-engineered? Maybe. But, as we’ve said, Minimalist Perfection isn’t just an ideal. It’s what we do.

MAGSAFE
Magnets might be an afterthought for some companies, but they’ve become a defining element of our cases. We start by sourcing premium N52SH Neodymium magnets to provide exceptional magnetic strength and resistance to high temperatures. Part of the challenge with the iPhone 15 series Sheath arose due to the flexible nature of ShockLite, the proprietary polymer we use. If the inner wall of Sheath was not sufficiently thick, an imprint of the magnet would appear on the back of the case. On the other hand, if the wall was too thick, the strength of the embedded magnets would be drastically impaired. A difference of even 0.1mm could have a significant impact.
Through tireless experimentation with different combinations of wall thicknesses and magnet specifications, we found a balance that maintains the sleek, minimalist, textured surface of Sheath that we’ve come to love, all while retaining one of the strongest MagSafe implementations among all case manufacturers.
