Here's my summary
Pros:
- Thinnest (and best feeling) case I've ever used
- Perfect initial fit and tolerance
- Maintains phone's slim profile
- Prevents camera wobble
- Better texture (imo) compared to phone glass
- Exceptional customer support (historically)
Cons:
- Poor durability (began noticeably degrading around 2 month mark)
- Unjustifiably expensive for me considering it has cost me $33 every two months
- This is a trend.
For context, I've owned four Veil cases to date. Two for my iPhone 13, and two for my iPhone 15 Pro.
I prefer a caseless phone over a bulky case, but definitely strongly prefer the veil over no case. The iPhone 15 pro rocks around on tables way too much without a case. I also like to keep my phone looking new (I drop my phone rarely to never).
While the veil is the thinnest (and therefore the favorite) phone case I've ever used, I do not think it lasts long enough to justify the $30 price tag. I think my use of the veil is pretty standard. I have removed it to reapply it maybe 3-4 times to remove dust/water? I'm very gentle when doing this.
Initially the case is perfect tolerance-wise. It fits the phone snugly and basically feels like there is no case, just that the phone has a nicer texture than the standard glass. After the two-month mark though, I started to notice the phone would shift up and down in the case when swiping on the screen, plugging it in, or even shaking the phone. The case seemed to have deformed over those two months, which kind of makes sense I guess given how thin it is? I switched the case out for the second one I purchased, and now I'm two months into that case and am noticing the same shifting around.
I loved the cases initially, but definitely can't afford to pay $33 every 2 MONTHS (that's like $16 a month!! ) I will probably be purchasing another case sadly. Would be easier to recommend if they were cheaper/a bit stronger. It feels a bit wasteful to be replacing a plastic phone case every 2 months too.
I'd be curious to know how long others have been using their Veils? How long are they designed to last? I've used the Apple first party synthetic cases in the past and their longevity has also been disappointing. (lasted me around 12 months, still way better than the veil, still pricey at $50 for 12 months, still cheaper than veil if you take time lasted into account, nowhere near as thin though)
My previous Veils for the iPhone 13 seemed to have lasted longer (closer to 8 months each?)
I haven't reached out to support for this issue, I don't think I'm going to use another veil case sadly (primarily for waste reasons) . Ordered the next best thing from a competitor. I'd be more than willing to send my case to Caudabe if wanted for QC though. Support has been exceptionally friendly and helpful in the past with a separate product (screen protector applied wrongly). (their screen protectors are long-lasting, look and feel great, no hesitation recommending those!!)
