I always grapple with going caseless; however, I usually throw on a light, minimalist case due to the phone slipping out of my pocket and the fact that my one year old likes to grab my phone and, typically, drops it or gives it a little throw. I love the Veil case because it doesn't add any bulk or heft to the phone, while providing enough drop protection so my son doesn't crack the glass on the front or back of the phone. I don't need / desire a ton of drop protection and it's only about a 18-24" high drop, but after several drops, the case is doing its job (he has found ways to crack my old phone's screen without a case). The added grips on the side of the case also do a great job of keeping the phone in my pocket. I also appreciate that the cutouts for the buttons, especially the camera button, are all accurate and still maintain edge protection for the screen (it's not just a giant cutout like some other cases appear to have). The fit is great, but it's still not too hard to remove the case on the occasions I want to go caseless.
I'm also not 100% sure if the case is a little thinner than last year or maybe the magnets on this year's iPhones are a little stronger, but I've found that I can leave my phone on an angled Magsafe charger dock and use StandBy on my nightstand with the case on (last year, the magnetic connection was hampered just enough by the case that it wouldn't stay on the side mount).
